Let's Control Guns Before Guns Control Us

When someone kills people with a gun, what seems strange is that we first check his nationality or his religion. If that person is not born in America, we rush to a conclusion that immigrants are dangerous because they are terrorists.

But when the shooter is born and raised in America, his action is not considered as terrorism; we easily find a way to say that he killed because he had a mental issue. Such an analysis blinds us and prevents us from seeing the root of the problem. The real root of the problem is that the gun business is a very prosperous business in USA and owners of that business are so powerful that they will block any legislation controlling weapons.

It is scary to mention how many people die in America from gunshot every year. The danger is everywhere: in school, in the malls, in the stadiums, in the train… even at home. No action is taken to reduce or stop the evil. Should we wait for someone to kill the whole city to understand that the issue is serious?

It is unfortunate to note that Americans suffers more from domestic terrorism than from outside terrorism. What is becoming more and more worrying is that innocent students are increasingly losing their lives. How will you feel if you were the mother or the father of one of the students who went to school healthy, but could not return home because someone shot them?

If leaders are serious about the protection of citizens, they should put politics aside and come up with a legislation that puts guns under control. We all agree that the gun itself cannot kill but it easily falls in the hands of wrong people. A gun in the hands of challenged people will always lead to havoc.
